Title

Interview with Vera Wilcox

Description

Born in 1953, Vera has been involved in tennis for a significant part of her life. In this interview she talks about her beginnings with the sport at 12 years old, using a discarded racquet with broken strings that her mother fixed with badminton strings, to eventually becoming a tennis coach. Vera joined the NOTL Tennis Club with her husband Alan in 1980 where they became involved with coaching. She helped run a number of programs including tournaments and the youth program where the 4-6-year-old children were affectionately called the Munchkins. After a number of years, she pursued a job at Ridley College but still kept in touch with many of the club members.
