Mary Howard’s father, George Howard, was instrumental in securing the funding for the Garden City Arena and in the creation of CYO Hockey in St. Catharines. Because of this, she and her family were heavily involved with the arena and the community surrounding, often billeting hockey players and also boarding Brock University students.
